With the gusty winds and high air pressure, conditions were far from ideal, but at least we were lucky that the black clouds cleared without dumping any wet stuff on us. Only one rider, Jane Morris improved upon her season/series or her season best.Congratulations Jane - all the more so since you indicated at dinner that you dropped your chain at the start, and also had to dodge some errant cyclists who were riding on the wrong side of the road. I guess the problems cost you less than the dinner did! Nancy Manning and (a little less so) Celia McInnis also had several good excuses - enough cars to each have to put our foot down until they passed and left it safe to turn. At least just a fraction of the wait that Celia had last Thursday! Anyway, the wind provided enough of an excuse. Only the steamy 2010-Jul-06 - with a humidex of 43°C - had a lower Event Factor. Also, many thanks to Geoffrey Wright for encouraging us all at a nice vantage point both on the way out and the way back. Geoffrey, at 82 years of age, is the oldest time trialist in Ottawa (not to mention a keen competitor in the Worlds championships for senior athletes), and he knows a thing or two about encouraging "younger" athletes. Among many others, he was the coach for Craig Burge way back when Craig was 14 years old. It helps us to pull a little more out when Geoffrey supplies his positive feedback.

(Lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface, I wish to make it perfectly clear that I would gladly do the data entry, getting the results up within a few of hours of the event, as history shows that I did for the WTT series for the decade beginning in 1998, and for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. The OBC Board however, not only won't let me volunteer here, but strangely enough they actually expelled me from the OBC for donating this time trial web site to you ! It is strange to me that a bike club would expel one of the most avid cyclists in town because she volunteers a cool cycling service...)
